Upscale California Redwoods Wedding on Film

I’m coming at you with a film-only wedding gallery this time!! Sophiana and Keith hired an amazing digital photographer for their California Redwoods wedding but wanted something a little extra, fun, and nostalgic to remember their day by. Sophiana + Keith’s California Redwoods Wedding on Film

When I say everything about this wedding was out of this world, I mean it. Let’s start with the venue, shall we?? Sophiana and Keith got married at Waterfall Lodge in California, surrounded by towering redwoods and their favorite people. Think: upscale forest vibes for sure. They were able to host all of their wedding day festivities at Waterfall Lodge, from getting ready to ceremony to reception. There was even a cabin on the grounds for their guests to stay in!!

Llave Floral did a fucking amazing job utilizing the (no shortage of) arrangements to complement and enhance the surrounding nature and high-end feel they had going on. And, of course, the bride herself was the most patient, gracious, and GORGEOUS person I’ve literally ever met. Their wedding party had the best attitude and took their roles as hype people very seriously, uplifting and celebrating throughout the entire day. It couldn’t have been a better day if I had dreamt it up myself!

Yes, you can have film-only coverage for your wedding!

Like I said, Sophiana and Keith wanted some extra sentimental memories for their California Redwoods wedding. I’m so happy they reached out to me because it’s not often I get to just shoot film! They completely trusted that I knew what I was doing, which is always when I’m able to be the most creative and deliver the most badass images.

I’m not usually able to just focus on shooting film photos during emotional moments like the first kiss or first look, so this was simply one of my favorites. Being able to explore a different way of slowing down and shooting with one film photo in mind resulted in a) so much fun and b) capturing some extra intentional photos for S + K! I even took some Polaroids throughout the day and sent them to the happy couples after they were digitized – who doesn’t love a fun little surprise in the mail??
