It’s no secret that 2020 gave everyone a run for their money and couples planning weddings definitely felt the affects. It’s hard to not talk about all the ups and downs that have come with restrictions around COVID-19. Weirdly, it’s a part of every couples’ story at this point!
Once Ana + Josue came to the conclusion that their dream destination wedding in the Philippines would not happen in the near future, they quickly made a plan to be legally married and began planning a smaller celebration in Chicago. They booked a reception venue for December and were hopeful that things would go as planned!
Then a spike in coronavirus cases came and they were no longer able to have the reception they hoped. So we executed plan….C? D? Which put their ceremony and time for portraits at the top of their priorities list. Distant family and friends were able to join via video. Even with all the pre-planning we were still only left with about 30 minutes of daylight for portrait time thanks to the fact that the sun sets in Chicago no later than 4:30pm in the winter AND it was overcast that day so we had even less light! We nixed the plan of going downtown to the riverfront for photos and instead, made magic happen right outside the church.
What truly amazed me about this wedding day we the attitude Ana + Josue had. Neither of them were upset or dwelled on the fact that this was far from what their ideal wedding day looked like but it was still THEIR wedding day. I’ve honestly never seen more go with the flow people and for that, I am thankful.
Eventually, they will get their tropical destination celebration but for now, I know they are just happy to have made things official. Keep scrolling for some of my favorites from the day!!!
